Mop and sweep your box, it doesn’t matter if there are damp patches of urine left. Spread a thin layer of Clinstable, easiest if you use a metal sieve to get a nice layer throughout the box. Apply extra powder to damp patches. The next time you mop, sweep out the damp powder and fill in the missing powder. Clinstable contains only Clinoptilolite so you don’t have to worry if you have horses or foals sniffing/licking the powder. You will improve the box environment as Clinstable is designed by nature to attract the ammonia.
GMP+ certification allows feed producers to demonstrate that their products are safe and of high quality. The standard builds on the basic structure of ISO 9001 and sets out key requirements for quality management. GMP+ stands for “Good Manufacturing Practice” and is a quality standard for feed manufacturers. The certificate was developed in the 1990s by the Dutch organization Productschap Diervoeder (PDV). The basic idea behind the independent certification is that safe feed means safe food. All actors along the feed production and supply chain can benefit from GMP+ certification. The standard is based on two main modules: Feed Safety Assurance (FSA): Guarantees the safety of the feed. Feed liability insurance (FRA): guarantees the sustainability of the feed.
Magnesium is an important mineral for horses as it is involved in many functions in the body. Below we list the top 10 reasons why horses need enough magnesium in their diet: 1.Magnesium works together with calcium to maintain muscle function. When muscles contract, calcium is released for this purpose and migrates to the muscle fibers. Magnesium stops the contraction by pushing back the calcium. 2.By allowing muscles to relax, it can aid recovery and help relieve muscle pain and cramps in animals after hard work. 3.This mineral may have a performance-enhancing effect on horses by supporting muscle oxygenation, muscle strength and metabolic processes. 4.Magnesium helps nerve cells to transmit signals to each other and to the muscles. 5.It is thought to have a calming effect on horses, helping to relieve muscle tremors and nervousness. 6.It can improve stress tolerance and resistance to disease and injury. Stress causes magnesium to be used up more quickly in the body. Ensuring optimal magnesium intake can help accelerate the return to homeostasis after an external stressor. 7.Magnesium can contribute to normal fat distribution in horses. 8.Magnesium helps cells respond to insulin. 9 It helps to prevent laminitis, especially in horses that are more prone to laminitis in the spring. (Horses with laminitis are often found to have low levels/imbalance of calcium & magnesium in the diet). Magnesium also helps to protect against inflammation and free radicals. 10.Optimal magnesium levels help to absorb calcium from the diet. This can support healthy bones and the general well-being of your horse.
Feed yeast, beer yeast or brewer’s yeast has long been used as a health food for horses. The increased availability of horse feed has also brought with it a greater variety of ‘yeasts’. The various yeast products differ from each other in origin, dosage and effect. Feed yeast or brewer’s yeast is a long-used supplementary feed, containing easily digestible protein, minerals, trace elements and B-group vitamins. Feed yeast is generally recommended for horses with rough hair or poor appetite. A typical daily allowance is 200-300 g per horse per day. Feed yeast is a dried residual product from the production of beer. Before drying and bagging, the live yeast cells have been inactivated, so they cannot continue to ferment in the horse’s stomach. Live yeast, i.e. yeast with active metabolism, is available as a probiotic feed additive in an increasing number of horse feeds. While yeast is considered harmless to horses, it is undesirable in feed because it shortens the shelf life. The risk of growth of other harmful microorganisms is also greater in such feed because yeasts can create conditions for other more harmful microorganisms to grow. EQ-LIVE YEAST reduces the appearance of unwanted microbial fermenters (bacteria) in the large intestine, increases the growth of fiber-degrading bacteria and prevents low PH in the gut But only the approved live yeast strains can back up their claims with research results. Therefore, EQ-LIVE YEAST promises to improve the function of the large intestine, increase nutrient absorption and improve fiber digestion. EQ-Yeast contains the strain Saccharomyces Cerevisiae MUCL 39885(4b1710) and is a highly concentrated probiotic live yeast (15 billion per gram).
